Janesville Show

Posted by Nicholas PARSONS on

The past year so I haven't been able to set up much at my own show, much less other shows.  There's many reasons for this, most notably family obligations.  Once spring hits the weekends are full of sports.  So I've tried this winter to hit as many shows as I can to show off and sell some of the great product we have.

I set up in Janesville on Sunday February 9th.  John and Mike are great show promoters.  Their venues have everything I like about shows:  easy access to the venue, parking, and food!  Having food at a show is important or at least having it accessible close to the show.  The show had steady traffic all day.  We were set up right across from the BBQ people and both my kids and I had to try it.  The food was great.  I love that they will try new stuff and this hit the spot (shoutout to Tony G. for always talking about food)!

I brought all of my vintage stock from the 1930's to about 1968.  I didn't have enough space for more as my nephew took a table next to me.  I like having him around as he's a good consultant when product walks up and also so we can give each other a break and walk the show.  Sales were okay.  I had a couple of smaller sales, and since I mostly am selling slabbed cards this can work out from time to time.  I did have a fair amount of people appreciate all the vintage I brought as it seems to be dying at shows these days.  A few customers said they would bring more money knowing I would have this type of stock going forward.  All in all, it was a good day.  I had fun with my kids and my nephew and all in all it was an enjoyable experience.  I hope to get back to WI for a show soon.
